background-color:rgba(0,0,0,0.43); font-size:12px; color:#fff; left:0; top:0;\"><i class=\"fa fa-tag\"><\/i> Note<\/span>\n<p>In the event of an active or armed threat, the community will be alerted to the danger using the <b>building intercom system<\/b>\u00a0and a warning message that will take over display on\u00a0<b>all digital screens<\/b>\u00a0(computers, TV screens) in the network.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>You should<\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"run\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/facilities-management\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/47\/run.png\" width=\"35\" height=\"35\" \/> Run <a href=\"#top\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/facilities-management\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/47\/arrow.png\" width=\"14\" height=\"14\" \/> <\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong>If escape is possible:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not pull fire alarm<\/li>\n<li>Evacuate building using quickest and safest route; leave belongings behind<\/li>\n<li>Advise everyone you meet that they should evacuate immediately<\/li>\n<li>If possible, help others escape and do not attempt to move the wounded<\/li>\n<li>Advise others not to enter the area<\/li>\n<li>Keep your hands visible<\/li>\n<li>Call <strong><a href=\"tel:911\"> 911<\/a><\/strong> and\/or security at <strong><a href=\"tel:5149318731\"> 514-931-8731<\/a> local 1000<\/strong>, when you are safe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"hide\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/facilities-management\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/47\/hide.png\" width=\"35\" height=\"35\" \/> Hide <a href=\"#top\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/facilities-management\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/47\/arrow.png\" width=\"14\" height=\"14\" \/> <\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong>If escape is not possible (lockdown):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enter a room that has a door with a lock; lock door securely\n<ul>\n<li>Use deadbolts in teaching spaces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Turn off the lights and barricade the door with furniture; take refuge behind or under furniture<\/li>\n<li>Do not open door to anyone<\/li>\n<li>Do not react to alarm being sounded, stay put<\/li>\n<li><!--StartFragment --><span class=\"cf0\">If possibility arises, do not evacuate<\/span><!--EndFragment --><\/li>\n<li>Security will communicate info as possible using the internal speakers found in departments or teaching spaces<\/li>\n<li>Stay in hiding location until police or rescue personnel come to safely evacuate you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"fight\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/facilities-management\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/47\/fight.png\" width=\"35\" height=\"35\" \/> Fight [Only You Can Decide to Do This!] <a href=\"#top\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/facilities-management\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/47\/arrow.png\" width=\"14\" height=\"14\" \/> <\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Fight as a last resort and only when your life is in imminent danger<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attempt to incapacitate the shooter<\/li>\n<li>Act with as much physical aggression as possible<\/li>\n<li>Improvise weapons or throw items at the active shooter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"position:relative; Know that rescue teams will enter after the initial officers. These rescue teams will treat and remove the injured once it is safe to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have reached a safe location, you will likely be held in that area by police until the situation is under control and all witnesses have been identified and questioned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do not leave the area until police have instructed you to do so.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>When Police Arrive:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Remain calm and follow instructions<\/li>\n<li>Drop items in your hands (i.e. bags, jackets)<\/li>\n<li>Raise hands and spread fingers<\/li>\n<li>Keep hands visible at all times<\/li>\n<li>Avoid quick movements toward officers, such as holding on to them for safety<\/li>\n<li>Avoid pointing, screaming or yelling<\/li>\n<li>Do not ask questions when evacuating<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Information to Provide to 911 Operators:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Location of the active shooter<\/li>\n<li>Your location<\/li>\n<li>Number of shooter(s)<\/li>\n<li>Physical description of shooter(s)<\/li>\n<li>Number and type of weapons held by the shooter(s)<\/li>\n<li>Number of potential victims at location<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the event of an active threat situation, you have three options.
