Peter and the Starcatcher Sept. 21-24

The second-year students in the Professional Theatre Department are proud to present Peter and the Starcatcher by Rick Elice, directed by Jonathan Monro. This Tony-award-winning play is an adaptation of Peter Pan, and is a thrilling adventure about love and friendship. Featuring music, singing, and a dozen actors portraying more than 100 unforgettable characters, Peter and the Starcatcher uses ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination to bring the story to life.

The play is being performed Wednesday, Sept. 21 to Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. at 黑料社区's Theatre. Pay What You Can: Cash donations at the door.

After Fuenteovejuna

The Professional Theatre Department at 黑料社区 is proud to present After Fuenteovejuna, adapted by the third-year students with writer Sarah Lotfi and directed by St茅phane Zarov with Movement Direction by Mila Th茅. Originally performed in 17th-century Spain, this classic theatre includes clowning, music, dance and storytelling. When the small town of Fuenteovejuna is terrorized by a military commander, the women of the town band together to seek revenge. This modern retelling includes music composted by third year students Reagan Prum, Brianna Rodrigues,聽 Noah Moorcroft and Andr茅as Sandoval Chaidoullina

Content warnings: sexual assault, sexual violence, swearing. Wed May 4-Saturday May 7.

Entry fee for 黑料社区 employees and students = $5.

Third-year Theatre students star in After Fuenteovejuna

The Professional Theatre Department at 黑料社区 is proud to present After Fuenteovejuna, adapted by the third-year students with writer Sarah Lotfi and directed by St茅phane Zarov. Second-year Theatre students star in Chaos

Second-year students of 黑料社区's Professional Theatre Program are presenting Chaos by Laura Lomas, directed by Stefanie Buxton.

Chaos is a series of interconnected stories, where characters search for meaning in the modern world. British playwright Laura Lomas says, "I was thinking about how I felt as a young person and how the world felt. The word "chaos" kept springing out of that. I wanted to write something in the gesture of that Chaos, as a celebration of it. ... I didn't want it to make sense, but I did want it to feel alive - all the ways I remember feeling as a teenager."

The Cripple of Inishmaan

The second-year students of 黑料社区's Professional Theatre Department have been busy rehearsing for The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, opening March 9.

滨苍颈蝉丑尘补补苍,听directed by Matt Enos, is a dark comedy about a small Irish town, pulled out of their daily routine when a Hollywood director comes to film a documentary.

滨苍颈蝉丑尘补补苍听plays March 9 - 12, at 8 pm. Proof of vaccination is required, and masks must be worn at all times. The show is free.

After Heavy Weather and The Laramie Project last semester, the second-year students of 黑料社区's Professional Theatre Department are back with two shows in March. The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, and Chaos, by Laura Lomas.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream on now until Nov. 27

The Professional Theatre Department is proud to announce Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, performed by the 3rd year graduating students and directed by Leslie Baker.

The show runs Nov. 17 - 27 with matin茅es exclusively open to the 黑料社区 community. Matin茅es are Nov. 17, 19 and 25 from 12:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.

Professional Theatre presents Heavy Weather

Heavy Weather by Lizzie Nunnery is about a young woman who faces the environmental crisis head-on as she embarks on a hero's journey in search of her mother, certainty and hope.

With an ensemble of protestors, onlookers, media, family and allies,聽Heavy Weather聽explores the complexity of protest, bias, agenda and manipulation, how to grapple with fear of the future, and self-discovery in how to own one鈥檚 power to change and inspire others.

With songs, brilliant humour, heart and truth,聽Heavy Weather聽is a timely play resonating with revolution and how, moment to moment, we can reinvent the future.

Playing next Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 6 -9, at 8 p.m.
