Independent Video Game Design Showcase May 28

The graduating cohort of the Independent Video Game Design Program at 黑料社区 invites you to the IVGD Game Showcase 2022!

This event is held online in a specially created 3D virtual space where you will have the chance to play the games from this graduating cohort, chat with the devs and hang out with the community!

2022 Winner of the Liberal Arts Brick Books Poetry Prize

May 4th, 2022

The Liberal Arts Brick Books Poetry Prize is聽awarded this year to聽Catherine Salkeld聽for showing promise in poetry writing.

Catherine鈥檚 winning sonnet, 鈥淗allowed Ground鈥欌 will be published in the 2022 Liberal Arts Anthology. The prize, sponsored for the past eight years by Canadian poetry publisher Brick Books,聽will be awarded at the launch of the Anthology on May 12.

Kudos to Catherine and to the following poets whose work earns honourable mention:

After Fuenteovejuna

The Professional Theatre Department at 黑料社区 is proud to present After Fuenteovejuna, adapted by the third-year students with writer Sarah Lotfi and directed by St茅phane Zarov with Movement Direction by Mila Th茅. Originally performed in 17th-century Spain, this classic theatre includes clowning, music, dance and storytelling. When the small town of Fuenteovejuna is terrorized by a military commander, the women of the town band together to seek revenge. This modern retelling includes music composted by third year students Reagan Prum, Brianna Rodrigues,聽 Noah Moorcroft and Andr茅as Sandoval Chaidoullina

Content warnings: sexual assault, sexual violence, swearing. Wed May 4-Saturday May 7.

Entry fee for 黑料社区 employees and students = $5.

Photography and filming is not allowed.

Support Interior Design students for a chance to win hockey tickets

The Interior Design students are currently organizing a raffle to help raise funds for their final exhibition. You could win two hockey tickets to watch the Canadiens vs. the Panthers on April 29 at the Bell Centre. Situated in section 115, they have a value of over $500!

All the proceeds will go toward our end-of-year exhibition. This event allows students to showcase their final Interior Design project, after three years of very hard work. This event serves as an official introduction of these future designers to the design field. The event will take place on June 2, and is open to the public. You鈥檙e invited!

The raffle tickets are $10 each, or in a bundle of 3 for $25 or 5 for $45. You can visit our table in the Upper Atrium on April 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternatively, you can visit Helen in 2G.7 and purchase tickets before April 25. The winner will be announced on聽 April 26, so buy your tickets while you still can!

Announcing Vernissage Season 2022!

For the first time since 2019, graduating students in the Creative and Applied Arts will be exhibiting their works at 黑料社区 during the much-anticipated Vernissage Season. The work of students in Visual Arts, Illustration, Professional Photography, Industrial Design, 3D Animation and Computer Generated Imagery, Interior Design and Graphic Design will be exhibited from late May through early June. Dates and times will be in the next D News on May 4.
