The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council\u00a0(SSHRC) has recently announced a partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research\u00a0(CIHR) to fund more projects under the\u00a0Race, Gender and Diversity Initiative<\/a>.\u00a0CIHR<\/abbr>\u00a0will provide support to social sciences and humanities projects on the themes of race, gender and diversity that include a focus on health.<\/p>\n The main goal of the Race, Gender and Diversity Initiative, launched in August\u00a02021, is to fund community-based and community-led research partnerships with postsecondary institutions that are grounded in the lived experience of underrepresented and\/or disadvantaged groups and that analyze the causes and persistence of systemic racism and discrimination. It is expected that the three-year partnership grants offered under this initiative will serve as hubs for challenge-oriented, community-led and community-based intersectional research and knowledge mobilization activities, and can be used to incubate new research partnerships.<\/p>\n To contribute to this initiative,\u00a0CIHR<\/abbr>\u00a0will join\u00a0SSHRC<\/abbr>\u00a0to co-fund up to 16\u00a0social sciences and humanities projects with a focus on various health research areas, representing a total of $3.6\u00a0million over three years.<\/p>\n
